People are always asking us how to prevent their carpet from getting dirty. The truth of the matter is that your carpet gets walked on, and so it will get dirty inevitably, but there are some ways that you can help it! What a lot of people don’t understand is that sometimes when their carpet starts looking dirty in certain traffic areas, they think that its just really dirty. In reality, what has happened is the dirt has ground down into the fibers of the carpet, therefore breaking down the fibers, which makes the carpet look dull and dirty. Below are some tips to prevent this from happening.
- Use mats – Outdoor and indoor mats or runners can reduce the amount of dirt that enters the house
- Take off your shoes – You can save wear and tear on carpet by asking everyone to take off their shoes before entering your home (socks are best because of natural oils produced by feet)
- Change your air filters – Change your air filters in your furnace systems often. I personally change mine every 3-4 weeks. the more dust and particles removed by the filter, the less fall on the carpet.
- Professional Carpet Cleaning- Getting a professional carpet cleaning is extremely important for the health of your carpet. We recommend every 6-12 months.
